Overview

Ness, the lead protagonist in Mother 2, is a boy who lives in an small town called Onett. He lives comfortably as an average American family with a mother, father and sister (Tracy). His life takes a drastic change when he is woken up by a meteor crash. After receiving a message from Buzz Buzz, he decides to venture away from home to fulfill his destiny and discover his own PSI powers.

Family

His father lives away from home for his business, and supplies Ness and his family with a steady source of income. Ness can call his dad from any phone and selecting "Dad". He is never seen in game, though. His mother stays at home to take care of their children. She will offer Ness his favorite food and rest if he talks to her. Also, he will become homesick if he does not call her periodically. His sister, Tracy, works part-time in a delivery service called Escargo Express and will help Ness out every time he calls the Escargo Express.

Neighbors

There are two neighboring houses next to Ness' house. There is Pokey's and Lier X. Agerate's house. They both play a role in the storyline with Pokey playing a very big role in the game.

Abilities

Ness fights with a bat. He also has some PSI abilities like the all-powerful PSI Rockin, which blasts all enemies on-screen for tremendous damage, in exchange for a tremendous amount of PP. He also has PSI Flash, an attack that may instantly kill an enemy or give it status ailments. This move seems to be the non-damaging counterpart of PK Beam. The last PSI he learns is Teleport β.

Statistics

Ness in the beginning is a weak character in PP. His HP, however, is incredibly high compared to the other playable characters. His attack power is also the highest of the characters. Ness easily becomes the strongest character once he completes Magicant. He gains many levels and stat boosts from the eight "Your Sanctuary" locations, as well as incredibly high PP, and even higher HP. At the highest level, he may be able to have 900 HP. His PP becomes higher than even Paula's once Magicant is destroyed. Ness basically becomes a one-man army once this area is passed. When he gets a "SMAAAAAAAAASH" attack, he is easily able to deal at least 800 damage with a powerful weapon.
